Ek Kodom
EK KODOM is an initiative by Team Platform with the aim of participating in the celebration of Contemporary Dhaka through Art and Artists. It is the inaugural step in DOSH KODOM, a ten-year art series dedicated to celebrating the city’s cultural evolution. From 2020 to 2029, the project will host annual unconventional art shows, each featuring one curator and three young artists, aiming to document and contribute to the city’s aesthetic and cultural growth. The first show, held on the rooftop of AJ Tower, features artists Azizee, Rakib, and Anisuzzaman, using their diverse styles to capture the vibrant, chaotic, and inspiring essence of Dhaka, believing this single artistic step can spark broader community celebration.

TEAM PLATFORM’s ‘EK KODOM’ at the ROOFTOP of AJ Tower
Team Platform organised a contemporary art show, titled Ek Kodom, featuring artworks by three young artists, Azizee Fawmi Khan, Rakib Anwar, and Anisuzzaman Faroque.
Director General of Bangla Academy Habibullah Siraji, renowned artists, Monirul Islam, Professor Abul Barq Alvi, critique Wakilur Rahman, Professor Md Anisuzzaman, artist Firoz Mahmud and artist & curator Bishwajit Goswami attended the art exhibition as distinguished guests, among others.
Dhaka, a mega city, has reached astonishing growth, from a population of 3 million in 1980 to 21 million today – creating hopes, dreams and challenges for the citizens, while accommodating urban and social changes, every day. The city teems with life and energy, yet, it is alienating, disorienting and in many cases, intimidating.
To that end, Ek Kodom is an attempt to present the diversity of Dhaka through a celebratory environment, full of artworks from diverse media, including paintings, sculptures, and installations. Portraying the modern aspects of the city, the artists, in a synchronal mutual interest, worked on thoughtful material experimentations. Each of the artists has a distinguished style, in terms of their working process and media selection. Yet, all their artworks express a cohesive theme.
From the pointed expressions of Azizee’s paintings, the subtle drama of Rakib’s drawings to the wit and charm of Anisuzzaman’s sculptures, Ek Kodom explores a broad range of elements. It is the first edition of a series of exhibitions, based on Dhaka, initiated by Team Platform. The art show also included artists’ talks, curators’ talks and a series of musical performances.
